Stitches is a 2012 horror movie directed by Conor McMahon and stars Ross Noble and Tommy Knight. The movie’s plot concerns a birthday clown returning from the dead to extract revenge upon a group of children that contributed to his death.

The movie follows a group of teenagers as they’re stalked by the undead Richard Grindle, otherwise known as “Stitches”. Years ago Stitches arrived at the birthday party of the bratty Tom. Together with his friends, they torment Stitches, eventually resulting in his death after a shoelace tying prank results in him falling on a sharp kitchen knife. Now as a teen, Tom is so jittery and nervous that his friends decide that he must attend a huge party to loosen up, unaware that a black magic clown cult is intent on raising Stitches from the dead so he can seek his revenge. Here we go straight back in to the world of Haddonfield and the slightly oversize loony Michael Myers in the awesomely titled Halloween V: The Revenge of Michael Myers. This time around Michael’s missing presumed dead and Jamie Lloyd seems to have mutated into something out of Children of the Corn with her predictive pictures. Couple that nonsense with Dr Loomis following a young girl everywhere shouting like a madman and you have the general idea of this film. Not content with this, the makers cast teenagers that look in their forties and adults who act like teenagers making the whole thing a total embarrassment. More

Personally I love the original Halloween trilogy and even though two is just a body count flick it does at least have creative death scenes. Having never bothered to catch up with part four and five I now get the chance to sample them both for the first time. First up is Halloween 4 : The Return of Michael Myers which has the lovable Michel back in the booby hatch. As regards the simply awe inspiring third instalment all you need to know is that this fourth part simply bypasses it and acts like a straight up sequel to part two. More

Christopher Lee in The Devil Rides Out represents his Hammer high point for me personally, but Rasputin is undoubtedly the most fun he ever had on screen. At no point does this biography even attempt to capture reality but concentrates exclusively on Rasputin’s reports mind and seduction powers. This is a hammer horror film without doubt but due to Lee going into total overdrive it does allow for plenty of deliciously dark comedy as well.

The story begins in the Russian countryside, where Rasputin heals the sick wife of an innkeeper (Derek Francis). When he is later hauled before an Orthodox bishop for his sexual immorality and violence, the innkeeper springs to the monk’s defence. More

Having loved this film for decades I was rather shocked to learn that this doesn’t seem to be considered a Hammer classic without question. This I find almost unbelievable gibe that the story is taken from a book by Dennis Wheatley, the film is directed by Terence Fisher and starts the simply legendary Christopher Lee. Hammer has undoubtedly created some of the best horror films in history and for me personally The Devil Rides Out is in the very top bracket.

The film begins as the Duc de Richleau (Christopher Lee) and Rex Van Ryn (Leon Greene) arrive for dinner at the home of their good friend Simon Aron (Patrick Mower). However, Simon has forgotten about them and is instead holding a function of his astronomical society. More

Hammer restoration time again and first up is the somewhat underwhelming The Mummy’s Shroud starring André Morell and John Phillips. The Mummy was originally remade in 1959 with legends Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee ensuring its classic status. The sequels that followed from Hammer were indeed a mix bag in terms of quality and The Mummy’s Shroud is uneven at best.

The Mummy’s Shroud is set in 1920 and tells the story of a team of archaeologists who come across the lost tomb of the boy Pharaoh Kah-To-Bey. More
